Crash Bang Wallop Theatre Studios

Crash Bang Wallop (CBW) is a theatre group for young people between the ages of 6 and 20 years of age, based at the CBW Theatre Studios, in Unit 16. It consists of two distinct groups: CBW Youth Theatre and CBW Academy.

CBW Youth Theatre performs two major musicals each year at Northallerton Forum. Rehearsals take place at the Studios three times per week and there is usually a short waiting list to join each show. There are no auditions to join the group and subscriptions are kept as low as possible; one of CBW’s core values is to be as accessible as possible to all. The Youth Theatre enjoys excellent support from parents, grandparents and friends with such essentials as costume making, building and painting set and front of house duties during shows. A great deal of teamwork goes into every production, and this is one aspect of the Youth Theatre that families particularly value.

CBW Academy runs during school terms, with classes in singing, dancing and acting on Saturday mornings from 10.00am to 1.15pm, a Junior Drama Class on Tuesdays 6.30pm till 7.30pm, and singing lessons available on week nights. The Academy’s emphasis is on teaching, and work is presented to parents and families at the end of each term, with a full show once a year. There are no auditions, and classes are paid for by the term.

CBW also has rooms for hire: a large studio with mirrors to one wall, and the Leven Theatre, which seats up to 100 people, and is ideal for small scale performances. There is also an extensive range of costumes and props available for hire.
